In 2002, the Netherlands Drug Policy Foundation invited Ethan Nadelmann, the Executive Director of the Drug Policy Alliance and the most prominent advocate of drugs regulation in the US, to the Netherlands. He gave lectures at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations 'Clingendael' in The Hague and in the auditorium of the University of Amsterdam. The DPA succeeded in getting several American States to pass private member's bills that caused a first crack in the front of the War on Drugs.
